Most keepers who switch gloves and end up disappointed make the same mistake: choosing a size that's too small.
Correct fit is essential for comfort, grip and peak performance on the pitch. A glove in the right size should not reach exactly to your fingertips and press against the inner seam — it needs a little space. That margin is essential for grip, ball feel and comfort.
In this guide we explain step by step how to measure your hand, read the size chart and find the right fit for you.
Why Size Matters So Much
A glove that's too small:
- Squeezes your fingers and restricts movement
- Stretches the latex too much — learn more in our article on latex and wear — and wears out faster
- Reduces sensitivity on the ball
A glove that's too large:
- Your hand moves around inside
- You lose sensitivity and control
- The ball can slip because the latex doesn't adhere properly
The golden rule (see also how to choose goalkeeper gloves): your fingers must not touch the bottom of the glove. Leave 2–4 mm of space — that's where the latex's cushioning effect comes from.
How to Measure Your Hand in 3 Simple Steps
You only need a fabric tape measure or flexible ruler.
Step 1: Measure the length
Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the start of your wrist, where your hand meets your forearm.
Step 2: Measure the circumference
Wrap the tape around the widest part of your hand, just below the knuckles (excluding the thumb). Keep your hand open and relaxed, not tense.
Step 3: Cross-check the data
The main measurement is length in centimetres. Circumference is a control. If you're between two sizes, always choose the slightly larger one.
Goalkeeper Glove Size Chart
| Hand circumference (cm) | Glove size |
|---|---|
| 14–15 cm | 4 Junior |
| 15–16 cm | 5 Junior |
| 16–17 cm | 6 Junior |
| 17–18 cm | 7 Adult |
| 18–19 cm | 8 Adult |
| 19–20 cm | 9 Adult |
| 20–21 cm | 10 Adult |
| 21–22 cm | 11 Adult |
Important note: This chart is indicative. Every model varies slightly. Mast gloves are designed with a slightly more enveloping fit than average: if you're between two sizes, choose the larger one.
Practical Measuring Tips
- Measure both hands. Your dominant hand is often slightly larger. Use the measurement of the larger hand.
- Measure with dry hands. After a shower or exercise your hand may be slightly swollen.
- For a comfortable fit, go one size up.
- For a tight fit, take your exact size.

Fit Across Mast Models
Not all gloves fit the same way, even in the same size. Cut makes the difference:
- Negative Cut Heyoka: tighter fit, almost a second skin. If you're between sizes, go up.
- Roll Finger Gemini: enveloping on the fingers, slightly more room on the palm. Your exact size works well.
- Hybrid Cut: balanced — your size usually fits perfectly.
- Flat Cut: the roomiest. If you have slim hands, consider half a size down.
Frequently Asked Questions About Sizes
I bought the wrong size — can I exchange?
Yes. If the gloves don't fit, you can return or exchange them within 14 days of purchase. The only condition is that the glove has not been used and the protective latex film is still intact. Go to the contact page →
Do Mast sizes match other brands?
Mostly, with one difference: Mast gloves have a slightly more snug fit thanks to fullfit construction. If you wear a size 9 in other brands, a Mast 9 will fit but feel more enveloping. If in doubt, our team can help via WhatsApp directly from the site.
How do I know if the size is right after trying them on?
Put the glove on, close the strap and open/close your hand several times. Fingers must not touch the bottom (2–4 mm of space). The palm should adhere without creases. Move your fingers freely: if you feel resistance or compression, the size is too small.
